Dong Nai Province-
Reading Room/library for secondary school

$3,500

Our aim is to establish a library within an existing room. It will supply books in both Vietnamese and English language. Your donation will also create a child-friendly learning environment. Librarian training and there will be ongoing support and monitoring by Erigo volunteers. Your donation will provide for the supply of suitable furniture, wall charts games and puzzles. It will ensure there is a solid pool of educational resources for Teaching staff to utilise.

Language Room

$19,000

English language skills open the doorways to so many oportun ities for these children. There is a desperate shortage of native English speaking teachers. In the rural areas it is rare that a student would ever have access to a native English-speaking teacher- trained in the interactive teaching style. Computer language labs help bridge this gap. Your donation not only provides for the equipment necessary, it also provides for specialist teacher training for local staff and students.

Computer Room

$19,000

Funding a computer room will provide the key to the technological age for rural students. It will give these children the opportunity of access to computers and they will develop invaluable skills. Skills that will be lifechanging as so many opportunities will open to them through computer access and skills. Your donation will provide equipment and training for teachers and students.

Sewing Room

$12,000

Provide vocational training for young adults and women. These skills can provide a family with the means to send their children to school, better nutrition and access to medical care. It also has a huge social impact on rural families and communities in helping to stem the 'rural drift'. Women can be encouraged and assisted (micro-finance) to set up their own co-operatives and thus stay in their home village instead of leaving to travel to factory cities. Often this causes family breakup/health and other social problems.

Your donation will equip a sewing room with machines, overlockers and provide the salary for a local skilled vocational teacher.

Compassion House

Will provide shelter, education and loving/quality residential care for at risk/displaced or orphaned boys and girls under 12 years of age. Our proposed building will house 24 children in a 'homelike facility'.

The 1st stage will be the dormitory/living and staff accommodation. the building will be eco friendly and designed in an aesthetically pleasing style in accord with indigenous building styles. Estimated Costs: $100,000

Stage two will be the addition of a study/library, music room and an all-purpose classroom for extra curricula courses. They will be linked to the main building by covered walkways.

The Vision
Future plans underdiscussion

Educating Girls

We have a vision of a special facility to educate girls - perhaps in an urban location. Educating girls offers extraordinary social and economic benefits to current and future generations. If finances are limited often the choice the family makes is for the sons to continue their education. A resource centre for girls, which provides extra curricula subjects, computer access, tutoring, life skills, vocational skills and mentoring can have huge social benefits. It creates an opportunity for girls to be able to make informed decisions about their futures and they are then able to protect themselves from exploitation, HIV and Aids.

Vocational Learning Centre

Maria Montessori

"If help and salvation are to come, they can only come from children, for the children are the makers of men".

This will consist of 3 classrooms, and will house a Computer Lab, Sewing Room and Computer room. In addition there will be a Teachers room and toilets.
